So if you’re home sharing from Catalina, and I want to either listen to music, watch a movie, listen to a book or podcast, I have to have all those applications open on the iMac ?
I thought the sharing was separate now and so you just had to have the library attached (external drive) or am I misunderstanding ?

And, yes, an app cannot be shared if it's not open.

The downside of having 4 separate apps, now need 4 apps open where previously only needed 1
That appears to be about family sharing
It would appear the apps have to be open for home sharing which is what I was asking about in my original post
