Resetting the SMC

What happens if my battery is dead, so the usb-c port is not charging? I tried resetting the SMC prior to the battery dying. Hardware failure?

Try using another USB-C port especially on the other side of the laptop if you have the Touchbar model. Sometimes just one port goes bad or both ports on one side go bad.


Try unplugging the charger from the electrical outlet for a minute to reset the circuitry of the power adapter.

If this doesn't help or you find one or more ports are bad, then you will need to have the laptop repaired.
