Activity maps not showing

After an iPhone update a few weeks ago the activity maps following a run don't appear on the Apple fitness app. it shows all the other content such as distance, pace etc., but only a map start point. It must be recording still as distance is always spot on. I prefer the apple app to strava as I compare with other friends using it. I have followed advice on previous posts and both watch and phone have current updates and all privacy/map detectors are on. It is an Apple Watch series 3 paired to an iPhone 11.

Any help would be appreciated.
