Apple ID password and keychain

I have set up my Apple id password on my Mac laptop as a strong password and stored it in keychain. When I access my Apple ID on my Mac or on My iPad thru Safari, the password is “remembered”. This process works fine for my Mac and iPad, but often when I want to download an App on my iPhone from the App Store,  IOS can force me to put in my ID password (which I have no idea). The system then try’s to get me to get me to change my ID password, - which I don’t wish to do.

What is the correct process, regardless of whether i am on WIFI or not.

At this stage, i am only backing Contacts, Calendars and Reminders to the Cloud.

Hey there robert_coady,

We see that you are having some Apple ID password issues when attempting to download an app from the App Store. We would love to assist you with resolving this issue and providing guidance.

If you have your passwords stored in Keychain on your Mac, you may want to verify that the Apple ID password is not stored there prior to resetting it. If you need assistance with accessing these Keychain passwords, check out this resource that we have provided to guide you: View the information stored in a keychain on Mac

If you are unable to find the Apple ID password stored in Keychain, you may want to reset it as occasionally Apple will prompt you for the password in the App Store for security purposes.

To reset the Apple ID password, you have a few options to complete this process:

Hope this information helps!

Take care.
