How to change title that displays at start of video

My son created a video in iMovie and initially named it "DUMB***". When the video is played on VLC player, "DUMB***"appears on screen for the first few seconds. We have tried renaming the iMovie filename but that didn't change the displayed text. There MUST be some way to delete or edit that displayed text. Any help? Thanks so much!

Yes, do as Ian says to change the title display on the movie.

So you don't have the offending title hanging around in the file name, you can change the title of the movie in the share box before you share it.

Make sure the title is selected in the timeline with the playhead above it.

Double-click the title in the Viewer to select it and type in the new words.
