Titles bleeding from one video clip to the next

I've created a movie in iMovie and added a music track and titles to each video clip used to build the completed video. However, when I go back after playing it and want to shorten some video clips, the titles bleed from the previous video clip onto the one I've edited. Any suggestions on how to fix this...other than starting from scratch or deleting all titles and re-adding them?
