I am giving a friend an iPad 1st generation, iOS 5.1.1. The iOS cannot be upgraded. I don’t want to erase it, Because no apps currently in the App Store will work on this iOS. How do I remove my Apple ID so she can put hers in? Do I simple erase ad let her type in her information? This iPad is no longer listed on my Apple account.

This procedure erases all personal/sensitive data and accounts from the iPad - and, crucially, removes the Activation Lock and its association with the former owners AppleID account.
However, you need to be aware that the original first generation iPad is obsolete. You’ll not be able to find any compatible Apps for the iPad in the Apple App Store. As such, the iPad’s usefulness and utility will be very limited.
