Final Cut Pro X Constantly Crashes

I haven't opened up the program in a while but I know the most recent update I've done is changing my system to the MacOS Catalina. I worked just fine with my first project and had no issues besides the app becoming unresponsive at one point. Once I started to work on my second project it began to crash if I moved too fast, scrolled through my timeline, used any keyboard shortcuts, put media onto the timeline and to share my project. I tried all the troubleshooting yesterday, even uninstalled the application and reinstalled before shutting down my computer for the rest of the night. Now it won't even stay open for two seconds before crashing.

My device specifications are:

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)

2.9 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

MacBook Pro

Does FCP X have Full Disc Access in System Settings Privacy?

You should completely uninstall that symantec/norton stuff.

Then restart and see how things go.

If there are still crashes, tell us more about your media and projects. If you have third party plugins in FCP, make sure that they are all up to date.

Try launching FCPX holding the option key so it doesn't open any previously opened libraries, then create a brand new, fresh library and import a short piece of media. What happens?

It still crashes even after uninstalling Norton and restarting my computer. I believe I never downloaded or added third party plugins for FCP (since it's been a while since I've even opened the program). I've gotten by with just what is already in the program and the media I've been trying to work with are highlights downloaded from Twitch which are MP4.

I already tried deleting my preferences before but I went ahead and did it again, still didn't work. I downloaded Etrecheck and got the report you asked for.

I have 507GB out of a 1 TB available so roughly 50% of free space.

I'm not sure of how small of a media you wanted to suggest so I picked the smallest video I had which was 37MB and it still made it crash.

Whenever there is a crash, you should delete the application preferences.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.

The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

If this does not fix things, please tell us more.

Trash the preferences as per Luis' instructions.

If that doesn't work, try creating and using a new User Account.

You seem to have tried shutting everything down and using different projects.

How much free space have you got on your hard drive . . . both as a percentage and as gigabytes.?

Can you send the specs of that 37 MB video? Open in QuickTime Player and Get Info. Post a screen shot.

What version of FCPX?

You're sure you don't have any 3rd party plugins? Something you installed a long time ago and perhaps have forgotten?
