Apple Watch inaccurate on treadmill

Why can’t Apple admit they don’t have some magical formula for this one and let you edit your treadmill run distance? I’m posting again because it’s been posted repeatedly for years and they just ignore it. Do something already. Over half a mile off on a 2.5 mile run.

Inaccurate Treadmill Works with Apple Watch Why that even though my arms are free, my Apple Watch is consistently 20 to 25% under the distance reported on the treadmill. I see many reports of this, so don't understand why Apple doesn't allow editing of workouts if their device is inaccurate. Any suggestions?
