Series 5 watch restarting
My Apple Watch series 5 keeps restarting itself. It will randomly shut Itself off and then restart on it’s on. It seems to have started with the last update. Any ideas on how to fix it?

RESOLVED: I updated to 7.2, the issue continued to occur. My eureka moment was to erase (again for the millionth time) but while on 7.2 - worked like a charm. Haven’t had the issue since. Try erasing and setting up as new one more time!
That's a pain, not sure I've got any insights as i think you've erased it and then NOT restored it from backup, which is the most thorough option. Looks like you're going to need to get onto apple support on chat or on phone, but my own experience of this with an Apple Watch 5 in warranty was very bad and did not resolve the problem. Fingers crossed!
My fiancees series 5 is doing this. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with Apple. I’ve sent in the watch for repair 3 times, the last time they replaced it. And it’s still randomly rebooting like before.
I don’t get it. They don’t seem to be in a position to know or understand what’s causing this problem, but when spending a grand on a watch, I expect it to actually function as advertised and not crash during normal usage.
has anyone had any luck figuring this out?
I believe this will turnout to be a fundamental embedded firmware issue that is triggered by developers including Apple following their own ever stricter guidelines and api calls within the iOS. These guidelines have evolved over the years and I assume somewhere within Apple the hardware and software teams have “dropped the ball”. I do hope Apple find a solution, as I hate buying out of the Apple ecosystem but if Apple can not maintain their own ecosystem so that everything in the Apple world plays nicely with each other, then perhaps time to buy products on their individual merit.
Anyone having this issue with ios 7.2? Mine just randomly started experiencing this issue today. Tried force restarting. Restarting my phone. All software is up to date. I’m so confused how something can suddenly go nuts like this.
Has your watch been working? And if so, what finally fixed it?
I was really hoping the 7.3 update would fix the issue, but it’s still every bit as bad for me. My watch is restarting at least once every ten minutes.
I’ve tried unpairing it and setting it up as a new watch and restoring a backup, I’ve tried doing a factory reset and starting from scratch. I’ve turned off all notifications. I’ve power cycled phone and watch together. I factory reset my phone and watch together.
I’m so frustrated.
Still is not. 7.3 didn’t do anything to fix it. I’m on my 3rd senior advisor, sent the watch in one time for repair. They just reset it and problem still continues. Asked for a replacement at this point. It’s been long enough.
Same here, my watch has be constantly restarting. I have restarted, unpaired, and unpaired and repaired from both a backup and as a new watch. Nothing works. This heating my watch up and killing the battery.
It didn’t work for mine either. It’s actually worse!!!! My screen is stuck on the apple logo
Has anyone figured out the reboot issue with the apple watch 5? So freaking frustrating! I've tried all the steps previously noted as well and nothing works...
I was finally allowed to mail my watch in for repair. It was stuck on the Apple logo and wouldn’t respond to anything. I have no idea of what they did but the watch is working for now.
I updated to the OS 7.1 apple watch 5 and still have the issue....
Running 14.2 on iphone Xs and 7.2 on watch.
Correction 7.1 (18R590) on watch
Hi I have the X Max and software is IOS 14.2
I’m trying the 7.2 release tonight and see how the watch behaves tomorrow.
