'JavaScript error occurred in the main process' ERROR message

Hi!

Everytime I go to open my slack desktop app on my iMac pro - I get this error message:

I've tried installing and uninstalling the Slack app, restarting my computer - all to no avail?

I'm currently running MacOS Catalina v10.15.2. Any advice on how to fix this error message would be amazing - thank you!!

Hey there! I’m not too familiar with Slack. But I do know that many only 32-bit apps, starting with High Sierra and finally with Catalina won’t work until the app developer upgrades their software to 64 bit:

32 bit App Compatibility with Mac OS High Sierra and later:

This May be unrelated but was my first guess, as in the article you can check in:

Apple > About This Mac > System Report > Software > Applications, (See the 64 bit column to determine), or better, click Legacy Software, everything in there is 32 bit software and probably won’t work.

If so, you may need to contact the app developer, if it is not 32 bit, then apologize, let me know because there’s something else going on, hope that helps!

It's a problem with the new update I'm pretty sure... the response above fixed my problem! Downloaded the program directly from the Slack site and we're in business!

Here are some helpful links about uninstalling: https://slack.com/intl/en-au/help/articles/360048367814-Update-the-Slack-desktop-app#trouble-updating

and downloading the app straight from slack: https://slack.com/intl/en-au/downloads/mac
