Just picked up a new MacBook Pro 16 32gb looking at the ram usage it showing me I’m using over 10gb of ram leaving me with 6-5gb of ram. What the hack is taking up so much ram? Like I said just had it for around 6 hours. Or is this normal I would think that 32gb of ram would leave me like 25/20gb of ram. But around 6gb.
You paid for 32GB RAM, why would you not want to use it? Unused RAM is wasted RAM. The MacOS manages RAM and stores often needed or recently needed data in RAM to efficiently allow access to that data when needed. If some other data is needed the OS will immediately reallocate RAM as necessary.

There is no need like the old days to micro-manage RAM. This change goes back to the introduction of "compressed RAM" some 7 years ago with the introduction of macOS 10.9 Mavericks.
