High Sierra Mail and AOL security problems
A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from aol that I have to upgrade my security access to my very very old, but still used everyday Netscape e-mail.
I use the apple mail on my macbook air for all my mail, gmail, netscape, what have you and never had a problem with any of them. So the directions by aol. were to remove the netscape account and then re-add, or install it, using the aol. link in the "add mail" menu.
So I removed the aol. account from apple mail, went back in to add a new mail account, chose the aol link, put in the e-mail address and password...... yes, correctly. And hit add.
The account shows up under my mail boxes but it does not connect and just gives me the triangle and account error.
Tried a few times, but it always times out and that's that.
Out of curiosity I removed the account again and added it back using the "other e-mail" option instead of aol and it works like a charm, all my old messages are downloaded right away and I can send and receive.
Anybody else had the same problem upgrading the aol security as requested and it quit working?
Also tried updating the port numbers, but that didn't help either.
