why can't I update my iphone 6 to software version 14? I am trying to switch from my iphone SE which I updated to 14.0.1 in order to back it up but now itunes won't let me restore the back up to the iphone 6

The iPhone 6 does not have a CPU that supports iOS 13 and above and does not have sufficient RAM.
Your iPhone 6 is not capable of running iOS 13/14 due its hardware limitations and most importantly it does not have enough RAM to run those iOS versions efficiently.
