forgot the passcode on my old device

I just found my old iPod touch 4th gen and I really want to open it to re-experience all the memories, photos and messages e.t.c. I've tried all my passcodes and nothing seems to work and now it's disabled. My iTunes doesn't want to recognise the device probably because i haven't opened it for years, so I can't restore it from there. Is there anything i can do?

You can re-enable your iPod, but all the contents (photos,etc) will be lost unless, by chance, you still have a backup to the this iPod on your computer. See the following for resetting your iPod and restoring a backup:
