Catalina-compatible Microsoft Word doesn't offer Publishing Layout option!?

Catalina-compatible Word doesn't offer Publishing Layout View. Had I known this, I never would have switched to Catalina. Publishing Layout is incredibly flexible - you can size and position images however you want via dragging them. In the current Print View, they just snap into a grid - you can't move them around, overlap them, etc. Are there settings in the new version of Word I'm not seeing that would mimic Publishing mode? If not, is there other software I could buy to achieve the same functions?

It doesn't have one because it's now just a duplication of many "publishing" layout templates you can either choose from in the Gallery, or start from scratch in the default Print Layout mode.

Word is a Microsoft product. If you have an issue with Word functionality you might want to discuss the issue in a Microsoft product help community.

The functionality in those templates has none of the flexibility of Publishing mode, actually. Images can't be overlapped or dragged into a different position.

Control-click on the picture. Select "Size & Position". Select the Text Wrapping tab. Choose "In front of text". I use that all the time for putting images where I want.
