Firefox and preview crashes since upgrading to Catalina. Dock items don't open fast.

Since upgrading to Catalina 10.25.7 I've been having all kinds of problems. FireFox 81.0.1 is crashing and Previw crashes when opening a duplicate to resize and save as jpg. In face Preview was crashing with Mojave as well.

Also items in the dock don't open immediately hen clicking, they just bounce up and down for some time, then finally open.

I've kind of stayed away from Safari due to some external problems with 1-Password 6 when Apple don't allow it to be added as an extension anymore. So I'm going to have to upgrade 2Password to #7 subscription. I'm so used to buying the app and really don't like having to pay monthly to use something.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Please determine if the same problems occur in "Safe Mode": Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.

Okay thank you. That's another issue I'm having. When browsers don't open (just keep bouncing up and down in the dock, I click restart and it won't re-start! Just hangs there with the desktop icons gone. Ultimately I have to just push the botton to turn it off.

I suppose I can start holding the shift and still get into safe mode.

Also I forgot to mention that preview keeps crashing on me as well and I have to force quit it. This happens because when I open HEIC photos I need to make a copy then resize and save as JPG. As soon as I resize to 600x800 I get the beach ball and have to force quit.

Not sure if too many apps are open or someething is wrong with Preview. This was also happening in Mojave.
