I have a Macbook Pro 13" 2019 model which is 1 year old. I checked the battery health and it has 89% with only 164 cycles. Should I be concerned about my battery? The laptop is used for web browsing and some light coding.

No, over 80% is ‘healthy’ according to Apple. My experience is that Macs drop to ~90% over the first 100-200 cycles then stay there for a long time. Having said that, best to run on AC power as much as possible, that reduces cycle count accumulation.

I’m pretty sure Apple is not selling refurbished models that are 5 years old. Given that, the issue you’re having is almost certainly the ‘fault’ of whoever refurbished your Mac choosing low-quality batteries to save costs and increase profit. Take up your issue with them, or better yet return the defective Mac.

The battery in my refurbished MacBook Pro 15inch Mid2015 has only 8 cycles and is now already almost at the 80 % mark. Now 82 %. And this is the second battery already. How is this possible?
