Alerts are not clearing on Catalina

I have a MacBookPro laptop, an iPad, an iPhone, and an iWatch. It appears that ALERTS are not properly synchronizing on all devices. I started noticing this problem only after about Catalina version 10.15.6. All devices are up-to-date (latest MBP update is 10.15.7, eg.).

I am getting Alerts on my MBP that cannot be cleared by viewing the app. This is not just ONE app. I have seen this on iMessage, Calendar, and also the iRobot app. For the iMessage alerts, I finally figured out that if I view the message on my iPhone, then it also clears it elsewhere. I've not been as successful with the Calendar, which is displaying the red circle with 2 alerts, presumably. I cannot figure out WHICH alerts or where to view it, so that it will clear properly. I already tried looking on my iPhone and my iPad, it did not clear the 2 alerts on my MBP.

I looked at Alerts in Calendar Preferences to see if it's set correctly. I see nothing wrong there.

Do other people notice this new bug? Is there a way to clear the Alert icon on various apps that I'm missing?

Hello sweetpeakc1sp,

It sounds like you aren't able to clear out the notifications on your Mac even after opening the app and addressing the new messages/events.

Just to verify, you are referring to the notification badges in the corner of the app icon, right? Are you currently logged in to iCloud on all devices?

Are you able to go to Notification Center and clear out the notifications? You can check out this link for more information on notifications on your Mac:

Receive, pause, or stop notifications on Mac

Sterling R,

I had already solved this problem but it was quite similar to what you said in your email, so I'll mark that as a solution. It was NOT Alerts, per se, as I get from Phone messages (this problem I resolved by looking on my iPhone instead of Mac). There were Notifications relating to something else, NOT an upcoming appointment, it was some generic request to set some option in Calendar (sorry I cannot be more specific, I fixed it a week ago, and I simply don't remember). Anyway, once I located where Notifications came up, I was able to clear both and the circled 2 went away. I'm suspecting it had to do with the most recent Catalina update, since I've had to reset a few other options (like "can I use Location data?" for some app I had on my Mac (even though I answered this question in the previous update, it is forcing me to re-answer again). Thank you for your answer.
