Family upgrade (sharing and cancelling plans)

My wife and I both have 200 GB plans. I want to upgrade my plan to 2TB and share with the family, and cancel my wife's plan as 2 TB will be enough . How do I proceed? I simply upgrade my plan, share the plan with my wife, and finally cancel her plan?

Her data will remain in iCloud as before right?

First sign up for the Family Sharing and setup, then once your wife is invited and settled, you can cancel her individual plan.
