malware in mail downloads folder

Received a suspicious email, reported and deleted it without opening the suspicious attachment. Sophos detected malware that has to be manually removed from the mail downloads folder. Trick I've used in the past doesn't work - Go - /Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail Downloads/. Can't locate the folder. Threat is also on time machine. I'm running 10.15.7 Catalina. MacBook Pro 16 late 2019.

Your complete path is incorrect: < /Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail Downloads >

if you are going to Finder>Go>Go to Folder it should be the following, copy and paste:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail Downloads

First I would uninstall Sophos— to eliminate false negatives, third party AV this does nothing but compete with Macs own built in Security, adds issues to the macOS .
