Force quit lost my work

Pages didn't autosave recently enough, app then needed Force Quit because it wouldn't respond and now my work is lost. Tried getting back a recent version but it's from days ago. Any idea how I get the more recent versions back? Please help. Thanks

In System Preferences : General panel, there is an [ ] Ask to keep changes when closing documents selection. If it is selected, then Pages autosave is overridden, and you must manually save your documents. You know this is enabled when you see a black dot in the document's red (close) traffic light — which would not appear otherwise (e.g. autosave).

Still recommend using Time Machine backups as a CYA measure.

Autosave is not active until you manually save your Pages document with a proper filename. Thereafter, autosave is automatic for this document, and occurs about every 10 seconds (locally) when there is a document change, and somewhat longer if the Pages document is located on iCloud Drive.

On my Mac, I have Time Machine configured and every hour, it backs up anything that changed since its previous backup. That is your best chance to recover a changed document from an hour ago, if the File menu : Revert To : Previous Save…, or Browse All Versions are insufficient in recovering the document.

Outside of a Time Machine Restore of the particular document, or the Revert To sub-menu options, there is no other means to recover your more recent, or lost work.
