I’ve attempted multiple times now to input the serial number of my current XS Max for trade in for the 12. It’s saying that my serial number is invalid.
before anyone asks, it’s not a typo. I’ve copy and pasted it directly from my about page in settings and it is 100% correct.
I tried contacting Apple support via chat but couldn’t do that either as it said the serial number was invalid yet again 😭

Does your serial number work here? It should.
Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
If it does, the issue is not with the serial number, but it is with some reason your iPhone is not eligible for trade.
Where did you originally purchase the phone?
If you have another Apple device, use that serial number to contact Apple support.

Oh. Perhaps you then have some “less than authentic” device.
Purchased through my phone provider. All has checked out previously. Have taken it to Apple in the past and there was no problem with the serial number
