tool bar won't show up & home screen split

If the menu bar along the top of your Desktop is not functioning or displaying as expected you can try...

-Rebooting

or

-try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

or

-from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

killall -KILL SystemUIServer

(use the enter/return key to execute the command line, then quit terminal)
