Locked out of Apple ID and Icloud email solution
I wanted to share my story with Apple and its users to help better assist somebody in my situation someday. It started when i was moving apps around on the home screen when i accidentally deleted Mailbox app... luckily password requirements for free download was turned off. After downloading it, I attempted to reopen email and asked me to verify my password. I couldnt gain access to inbox until this was done. After failing multiple times i had to verify my apple ID.... options 1)email verification to (my locked icoud email...)😑 and 2) answer my security question(s). Although its not case sensitive, answering the questions correctly felt seemingly impossible... EXAMPLE north main st, north main street, northmain...... and i had to answer both security questions correctly. Ultimately i was locked out for almost 2 days total and apple support doesn’t have ability to over-ride, or gain access to privacy related settings. The final declaration of a 1hour 45minutes phone call with apple support advisor/senior advisor was to keep guessing my security questions after my current and future 8 hour lock out. That was apparently my only option because I was unable to sign out because I had find my iphone enabled. To disable it I needed to verify my apple id....of course.
*****THE SOLUTION*****
This truck driver right here kept trying!!
*on a separate device i tried to login in to past icloud accounts and other email addresses to search my mail for “apple” in the inbox with hopes that maybe i had set up a rescue email and would find a way to gain access to my Icloud email to verify my Id, unlock my account, and reset my security questions. This got me no where but helped me find the answer. I had logged into a separate Icloud email, a gmail account, an old yahoo account, and an unused outlook acct. And i chose to login into mailbox on the device i was having all this trouble with using my Outlook account. when i did this it brought me to settings. I noticed in the settings that the little on/off green permission bubble next to mail was turned off.... probably from accidentally deleting and reinstalling the app. I slid the bubble to the on position and immediately had linked the locked icloud email at the same time it linked the outlook email. Yep all this to find out i just need my permission re-turned on. Thank you to the advisors that tried and i could hear the defeat by the end of the call. They even searched discussions for an answer but none turned up. Here you go!😁😁
