USB Superdrive not working with MacBook Pro and USB multi-port connectors

I too have been having issues with USB C and Usb 2/3 devices. I have 2 C connectors I bought an apple multipart adaptor, yet when I plug in my 4 port multi usb, even just to use my keyboard and mouse it won't work, neither of these need enough juice to knock our the adaptor yet, I can type but can't scroll or use mouse features. If I plug in a temp ssd, I bought a C to USB adaptor and it works fine direct to the C on the MBP but if I add it to the multi port knocks the whole lot off-4 way useless. I have reverted to plugging in 1 at a time, old school, then it all works.

I have considered it. But my suitcase is already full!

Sort of defeats the point of going mobile with tech if the tech can't do the job you need. This is premium tech, IMHO it should be up to the job. Most people carry a portable HDD/SSD, companies don't like you keeping data on the LT incase it is "misplaced". Certain documents need passwording to secure etc. Lots of reasons to use different mobile devices, just not at the same time, unless I carry a 4 gang power extension too. :)

Also, Apple’s USB SuperDrive draws 900 mA of power, which is more than the standard 500 mA output via USB. That means it won’t work with a typical hub, but needs to be directly connected to your Mac. Other peripherals should work through a hub, though.

But...my LaCie Rugged USB-powered drives all draw >480 mA, and most bus-powered drives do the same, so again if you have an external drive connected to your unpowered hub, it will take almost all the 500 mA of current, leaving insufficient power for a keyboard/mouse/etc.

Obviously it’s your choice to carry another power adapter for a powered hub, or skip the hub and plug each device in separately as needed.
