Can't turn off predictive text

Hi,

In my iphone (6s running 13.4.1) I have predictive text turned off in keyboard settings. However, word suggestions still pop up in messages from time to time. I can't figure out why or how to get them to stop. All the tutorials I've found just tell you to turn off predictive text in your keyboard settings, which I have already done.

iPhone 6s, iOS 13

Hi drunami,

It sounds like you'd prefer not to use predictive text, and have disabled it, but you occasionally still get suggestions for a word.

Depending on your settings, this may be expected behavior. As outlined in this article: Use predictive text on iPhone, under the section "Turn off predictive text", "When you turn off predictive text, iPhone may still try to suggest corrections for misspelled words. To accept a correction, enter a space or punctuation, or tap Return. To reject a correction, tap the “x.” If you reject the same suggestion a few times, iPhone stops suggesting it."

Take care.

Hi Sterling,

No, I mean the gray bar with words that pops up above the keyboard and is insanely horrible and distracting. For example, if you type a day of the week it will pop up the date. If you say "i am" it will suggest things like my location and "on my way". The in-line auto-correct text you're mentioning is essentially just a spell-checker that is always wrong. This is much more invasive, distracting, and frustrating. However, if there's a way to turn off both I'd gladly take that as well.

Thx.
