Apple Watch Series 6Heart rate sensor

I’ve recently purchased an Apple Watch series 6 and noticed that if I take my watch off my wrist or charger and unlock it, then open ‘heart rate’ it starts to give a heart reading even though it’s not on my wrist!

Hows this possible?
