user account corrupted

Hi all,

I've been having some issues the past couple months with my 2017 27" iMac 5K running macOS

Catalina 10.15.7 . These issues include:

  1. inability to log in to iCloud
  2. gmail account not going online in my mac mail client
  3. sudden restart ( your computer restarted because of a problem ) I have today's kernel panic info in 'additional text' as well as an etrecheck report

I found out that the problems were being caused by a corrupted user account, the second that I've had

in the past several months. I created a third new user account and everything was fine for a few weeks.

Now I am beginning to get the same symptoms listed above. I ran a MemTest86 test on the RAM and

didn't get any errors. Here’s a link to that test report.

I'm attaching a diagram of my workflow and all of the peripherals. I have a 2013 iMac running Sierra 10.12.6 right beside the 2017 iMac which has basically the same workflow and peripherals, but I have

had no problems with it.

I'm wondering what could be corrupting the user account on my 2017 iMac with Catalina.

If anyone has any input base on the data I've provided that would be great.

Thanks.

Dennis

or maybe... i do a clean install of Catalina. i do have old user accounts on this machine that I could not delete, they still had

invisible files in them. i attempted to delete these old user directories by dragging them to the Trash and then

emptying the trash. below is what happened:

I think, at this point, a clean install of Catalina on the iMac is my next step. Even though it will take quite some time to

add my applications, preferences etc. to get me back to working order.
