iOS 14 cant connect to macOS 10.12.6 Sierra

Hi there.

I can't connect my iPhone 7 with the latest iOS 14.0.1 to my Macbook Pro, late 2011, macOS 10.12.6 Sierra. It tells me "a software update is required to connect to your iPhone" (iTunes version 12.8.2.3).

Well if that means I need a newer version of macOS, it can be hardly done while my laptop obviously supports max High Sierra system software.

Is there any solution? Or is it just I am forced to go back and downgrade my iPhone to iOS 13?

I'm a little confused and disappointed, there was no notice about that.

Thank you.

Well, unfortunately, your advice is not helpful. Of course I tried that about a thousand times but still the same.

The message "Software update..." pops up every time I connect my iPhone to the Mac. And yes, I choose "Install" and there it is - waiting a longer than long time ............

........ just to get a message with an error "Can't download the software because of a network problem."

I actually don't know what software it forces me to download anyway. Hm?

Oh, and maybe I forgot to mention: I don't want to go for High SIerra in my Mac.

Any idea?

Hi there, heiabro,

We certainly understand how important it is that you're able to connect your iPhone to your Mac. Are you able to choose Install and allow the update to install? Check out this article for more information about the alert you're seeing: If you see "Software update is required to connect to your iOS device" on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers!
