iCloud drive stores locally the Whatsapp backup

Hi Everyone, I have set Whatsapp App to backup to iCloud weekly. This obviously takes up space in my iCloud Drive, which is understandable. The issue is that my iPhone seems to be storing the backup locally and it shows up in the iCloud Drive portion of the Storage menu. This is very inconvenient because I don't need that backup in my phone (until I need it, of course) so I want to "offload it" to the cloud and keep it here. When I access the iCloud Storage option, I can only "delete" the backup and the warning comes up "you will delete it from everywhere" which I do not want to do. How can I remove it from my phone while keeping it in the cloud? Thanks in advance.
