Migration Assistant

Migrating from 27" mid-2011 iMac to 27" now 2020 iMac. 1st iMac had faulty HD within 24 hours - last week. Returned. Replacement arrived yesterday.

Having finished Migration Assistant, the new iMac now has duplicate apps. I can't delete the duplicates. And I can't open some of the apps either, I get an error message with a zillion lines of why it's an error.

How do I get my new iMac up and running correctly?

Why did this happen?

Is it do-able at all?

Question... did you use Migration Assistant after setting p the new Mac, or Setup Assistant a couple of steps after 1st boot of the new Mac?

Have you run First Aid on the old Mac, do Dups show on the old Mac?

Delete these files ^ restart...

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.teamviewer.teamviewer_service.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.teamviewer.teamviewer.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.teamviewer.teamviewer_desktop.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.torch.update.agent.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.trusteer.rooks.rooksd.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.ARM.***.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.myheritage.familytreebuilder.checkupdates.plist

~ tilde indicates hidden Local Library

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.
In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

The new 8 GB Macs with Fusion Drives are disappointing speedwise, if 21.5" then the cure is an external SSD to boot from...

The only way I know how to delete those Apps is by booting from another drive.

Screenshot when I updated the latest Catalina just now, and all the errors re apps. Can't delete the duplicate apps. @nd screenshot is part of the list of apps, see severals are duplicated. I cannot delete the oldest one, no matter how I try.

No - used MA immediately when starting new iMac. First Aid on new iMa shows 2 HDs. Screenshot is the dark image. Etrecheck of new iMac below too.

Screenshot of old iMac attached 2nd image.. Ran First Aid - said OK. Only 1 HD on it. First Aid on both say successful.

Just doing the deleting now as BDAqua said - on the new iMac.

Will let you know how it goes.

I restarted, but it is stuck with the white Apple logo on the black screen and not changing.

Should I turn off at the back?

I still can't get rid of dup apps - no the old iMac hadn't dup apps, if they are, they're hidden somewhere!

The new one isn't fast - I was expecting more from it...

No. Used the button on back to turn off and back on. It had been stuck on the black screen with the white Apple logo.

Better not be dying - this is the replacement for the one that died at 24 hrs old. This one arrived Fri eve.

Found them eventually, deleted now. They were well hidden.

Re-started. It didn't re-start - it got stuck on the Apple logo, had to use button on back to shut down and re-start again.
