Can I import a gpx file for navigation?

I want to use Apple Maps on my iPhone for navigation. I can plan a detailed route using Google Maps, essentially having multiple waypoints, and then create a gpx file. My Tomtom can import the gpx file so I have my custom directions. Can I do similar planning for my iPhone?

Unfortunately there is not a way to add waypoints into a Apply Map route. I have been hoping for this feature since I began using it for navigation. Our 2012 Ford nav system had this feature - you would think it wouldn't be a difficult addition...
