First pages of homescreen, icons automatically shift to fill after removing Widgets

Horrified user here,

I am being plagued by the exploding folder bug on the Iphone 11 Pro, making my home screen a jumbled, 20 page, mess after enabling widgets and trying to arrange them, on page 1 and 2.

Thus, I removed all the widgets and, painstakingly, tried a few times to group my apps again, with the same explosions happening from time to time.

Finally have 75% of the apps grouped again, but I can't get the 2nd page (the same ones, to which I last moved the widgets) to stay static.

Page 2 will shift the first icon from the Page 3 page in, automatically, into the last spot on Page 2, without fail.. I want this behavior to stop.

Has anyone else encountered this issue in IOS 14.0.1?

Any settings I can toggle to get it acting normal again (hard disable widgets, etc)?

Hello trezhunter,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're encountering an issue where your apps are removed from their assigned app folders.

Does this happen only when you introduce widgets? Is the second page that you mentioned just rearranged as might be expected when adding a widget or what happens there?

Check out Use widgets on your iPhone and iPod touch to rearrange widgets on the Home screen.

Many thanks!

Perhaps you did not understand.

Lee me explain again..

STEP1. I enabled the widgets

STEP2. I moved the widgets to Page2

STEP3. I removed/deleted the widgets

With NO WIDGETS ENABLED, page 2 automatically shifts the top apps and folders from page 3, so that it is always completley populated with icons.

Again, I repeat, I have no widgets turned on.

They are all very much useless.
