Girlfriend 'Started sharing location' notification - Does this mean she actively turned it off?

My girlfriend has been staying at a friends house for a few days near where she works. We have each other on Find Friends or 'find my'. I hadn't checked her location, but one morning I received a notification saying she had 'Started sharing her location' with me when she was at work. My sister mentioned to me that she got the same notification from my girlfriend a couple of days later. I mentioned this to her and she said she never turned it off and it was 'odd'. In the years we have been together this has never happened before so odd that it is while she is staying away. Is it even possible to turn it off to the point of getting a reactivation notification without realising?

I checked her location at one point after this and it said it had updated '30 minutes ago' for a while and then popped back on normally. This time I didn't get the notification. I don't know if this is all part of her phone being weird or if it is more calculated?? Any advice appreciated!
