Airpod mic quality really bad on Mac only

I'm having this really strange problem with my Airpods where when I use them to make calls on the iPhone they are completely find, but the second I use them to make calls on my MacBook Pro I'm told that my voice becomes very distorted and muffled. Have reset my Airpods and disconnected/re-connected them to my Mac but nothing has worked. Any ideas?

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.10

I had same problem and I connected with Apple support Turkey. They had some solutions (links below) about it. I solved my problem with these directions. I hope it works for you too.

1) Reset your AirPods: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209463

2) Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

3) How to reset the SMC of your Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Take care...

Howdy ez-cc,

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the quality of your call audio on your AirPods when you're connected to your Mac. For this scenario, we want to make sure the software on the Mac isn't playing a factor here.

If you're using AirPods (2nd generation), make sure that your Mac has macOS Mojave 10.14.4 or later. If you're using AirPods Pro, make sure you're using macOS Catalina 10.15.1 or later. To learn more, please visit: Set up AirPods with your Mac and other Bluetooth devices

If you continue to experience the same behavior, please reach out to us here: Contact Apple Support

We hope that helps.

Take care.
