I have my first Apple Watch and would like an hourly reminder (chimes) at the top of every hour for a set of pushups; however, unless the watch's sound is on, the chimes will not function.
Is this normal? Does the sound have to be on for them to work? That would be annoying at work.

i‘ve had the same issue but the solution (for me) was pretty easy: i just disabled and re-enabled the chimes in the settings. after enabling it you will instantly feel the vibration and then it should work again! i also use my apple watch in silent mode only. maybe the last watchos update caused this issue...
