FaceTime Landscape greyed out?

This happens only when I call her. When she calls me on FaceTime, we can both be in landscape. We’re both on our Macs with updated software in Chrome. Any ideas?

Hi, Kellsbury.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We’re glad you decided to reach out about not being able to FaceTime with your friend in landscape orientation. If we understand correctly, when you place the call to her you can’t switch to landscape, but she can and it switches for both of you as outlined here:

From your profile it appears that you may be using OS X Yosemite, 10.10 on your MacBook Pro. Do you know the software version she is using on hers? It's possible that feature isn't available in your version of FaceTime.
