Chrome repeatedly reloads webpages, even after restarting iPad and uninstall/re-install Chrome

Asking for help to stop Chrome from reloading webpage every 1 to 2 seconds. It is simply maddening! The anemic options available within Chrome itself and in iPad Settings/General/Chrome have no impact. Restarting the iPad has little to no effect. Even clicking the “X” in the browser bar to stop the page from loading further has limited success; sometimes it stops it but most of the time it does not. This is a otherwise, perfect 2018 9.7” 128GB with no battery issues, and 80GB free space, and fully updated at all times. Safari occasionally does this, but Chrome does it 100 timesmore often. Frustrated...... (Thank you in advance for reading)
