Is there a way to use the Macbook with the lid closed and without connected to the AC power? I am using Macbook Air 2017.

It is good, actually. You cannot ‘overcharge’ your Mac, running on AC as much as possible will extend your battery lifespan by reducing the rate at which charge cycles accumulate, and with the battery health management feature introduced in macOS 10..15.5, your Mac will run itself off battery for brief periods even while connected to AC power to maintain battery health.

It is good, actually.
