MacOS Big Sur Safari 14 Google Meet wired EarPods poor audio

My wife is running the latest OS on her Mac, attempted to connect to a google meet, but experienced intermittent crackling and audio she when using her EarPods mic connected to the headphone jack on there Mac. The audio issues were experienced when she was listening to someone talk and the other person on the meeting call said they couldn't understand her claiming she was "breaking up". She tried multiple EarPods getting the same results. We tested to narrow down issue. We joined a google meet using Safari and experienced the audio issues. We joined a Zoom meeting using Safari and experienced no audio issues. We tested joining a google meet using the latest Chrome and experienced no audio issues. We joined a Zoom meeting using latest Chrome and experienced no audio issues.

So, In our experience, there is an audio issue when using Apple EarPods during Google Meets while using Safari.

Additionally, on my Mac, also running the lates OS, using the same EarPods, connected to a google meet using Safari and the audio issues presented.

This is more of a shared observation but if you have any other ideas for me to test or can reproduce maybe share that here.

As a workaround, this issue appears to be resolved in the latest Safari Technology Preview.

I used google meet with Release 116 and did not experience any problems.

Weird, I have Bug Sur 1.1 and the latest chrome and I am not experiencing that problem. All my Google Services are working 100%

APPLE please fix It. I have the same bug.

I don`t like using Chrome but I have to do it due to work meeting in G Meet.

I'm pretty sure that since it's likely an IPv6 issue we'll need to wait for google to fix this issue. Has any reported the problem to google?

Same issue with me.Most of the meet buttons were also not working properly.Please fix this ASAP!

The most recent update of Mac Os BigSur should fix the problem, as i have been using safari for my google meet conferences and it is working absolutely fine, i hole this helps you.

Experiencing the same issue here. I have noticed that after 30 seconds to a minute though, it miraculously resolves itself. Other people on the call can here me fine. Almost sounds like a crackling Dalek sound :-).

Chrome is fine and I am running the latest Big Sur (11.0.1) and Safari Version 14.0.1 (16610.2.11.51.8) on my 2019 16" MacBook Pro.

Same here. Its happening since the first public beta of BigSur in the worst moment ever. A lot of people around the world need it working properly to keep there work by distance. Please, fix this ASAP.

I am having same issue with safari , any google meet or even blackboard collaboration, the audio is all static in Safari . if i use chrome or firefox there is no issue. Someone please help me solve it. I do not wanna use Chrome.

Having the same issue.

The only fix I have found is making sure the AirPods are connected to my Mac before I join the meeting.

Though this is not a permeant solution and occasionally there is still some crackle.

Same here. I have also had to use chrome for my meetings. Did you also notice your input volume was very quiet?

I was also experiencing this issue with just using the external speaker, no headset.

just added a correction to what I posted above. It appears all audio problems go away after leaving the session open for some time. Can you confirm?

Yes, I can confirm that. But when I start to open another tab during the meeting the audio starts cracking again.
