Issue with iOS 14.1 and CarPlay

I had the same problem in my '17 VW Passat in that all of a sudden my phone wouldn't connect to the car. It would charge, but CarPlay kept telling me that the Connection Failed. Until I saw this I hadn't put two and two together that my phone had updated the night before and that was causing the connection failure

Anyway, all I did was reboot my radio. In my car you just hold the power button down until the radio restarts. Once I did this, I haven't had any problems since

I can't use navi keys to change apps on my car's screen

If music is opened I can change tracks etc but it is impossible to change to different app. The only way is to change it by choosing wanted app from phone.

I’ve had the same problem with a 2016 Passat which stopped working with CarPlay directly after updating to iOS 14.1. The issue persists with iOS 14.2. Restarting my radio did not solve the problem for me

I had CarPlay installed on my 2019 Mazda cx3 on Saturday. Some of it worked, some didn’t. The tech told me his phone worked on it. He was running iOS 14.1. I had iOS 14.2. I updated today to iOS 14.3 and got a real Apple cord which was recommended. Everything works fine now. That’s the answer.

I am also unable to use the phone feature in CarPlay after updating to 14.1. I have to use Siri....I hope apple resolves this!

Reset worked for me in a 2019 Skoda with Columbus stereo. Press and hold power button until display goes black - takes around 5+ seconds, so be patient - CarPlay now back to working normally.
