I've reset my wife's ipad and set it up for me. My apple ID is correct and live, but screen on ipad is stuck on set up apple ID screen. Held home key and power button to soft reset but just starts apple ID setup again then gets stuck again. Any ideas?

It sounds like your iPad is repeatedly asking to set up your Apple ID at the set up screen and you cannot get past it. We would recommend putting your device into recovery mode and setting it up again with this article:
