Clips are not showing timeline in IMovie, only as one solid clip

When I drag clips into IMovie, the clip is being shown as one small clip, not a continuous set of frames which is a nuisance as you can't see the gaps in between takes. I have not adjusted any settings in the program, only discovered this when dragging clips in the work area to edit.

Could someone advise how to get the clips to display as the set of frames instead of one small solid clip?

Of course. I should have realized that you didn't mean every single frame. Sorry.

You can expand your timeline by moving the slider located just above the timeline to the right of your screen, next to the Settings button. See if that accomplishes what you want.
