My phone cant take sharp picture

Hello,

I have troubles with my 1 week previously bought iPhone X 256gb. I am trying to take a picture any picture i take that is closer to phone (cca 1m away or so) is a very sharp, focused and detailed pic (1080p i suppose) but when i take a picture from further away quality drops, phone struggles with focus (usually doesnt even focus) and the picture is of really bad quality sadly. I have tried re-strarting, re-seting and updating (iOS 14.1) yet nothing changed. I took pictures on default settings. Could you help me out?
