My new iphone 12 is arriving tomorrow - I have since switched carriers to T-Mobile. Will the new iphone 12 work on T-Mobile or do I have to return it and exchange for a T-Mobile version?

If you financed it with Apple through Citizen One, then it was sold by Apple for the full retail price. Citizen One will have paid Apple the full price of the phone, and your debt is with Citizen One. All iPhones from Apple where the buyer pays the full retail price up front at purchase are unlocked. So you should be able to just put your T-Mobile SIM in and go.

I also ordered my iPhone 12 with an AT&T plan (which I’ll be using). Here are some of the “Product Details” provided by Apple.
Thanks for the reply. The phone is on the Apple Citizens One Plan - not AT&T - I am getting conflicting feedback from Apple. One rep said fine no problem, just use your new T-Mobile SIM card, another one said the phone will not work on T-Mobile and I have to return it.
The physical iPhone is identical for AT&T and T-Mobile. That was not true for older generation iPhones.
