Hey there! I’ve seen this after the update as well, I think HP drivers are out of date and need to be updated to work. Here’s what worked:

First, if updating the software manually doesn’t work:

Open Finder, on the top menu hit Go > Computer > Macintosh HD (Usually) > Library > Printers.

Save (If you need to, and Delete the HP folder from there, (You’ll notice when clicking “Show in Finder” when you get the errors, these are where the files are, in this case old, outdated drivers and files).

Once deleted, open System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.

Right click (or Control click) select “Reset Printing System”, (This will delete any existing Printers and Scanners).

Once done:

If USB Printer, dis connect/re connect, you may see the option to “Install” the new HP software.

If a wireless “AirPrinter”, just hit the “+” sign to re-add the printer and select “Add”.

Do a test print to make sure it’s working again!

This is Gatekeeper, Mac’s security doing its job, most likely if you’re getting that error message, it’s a good thing to remove the older software.

Hope it all goes well!

My parents in law had problems with their printer on their new iMac. So I took the printer and tried to install it on my own mac. When driver was installing I get this error before the driver finished. "fax.backend" will damage you computer. This file is located in the HP driver folder.

After installation the printer is idle by no printing when printing a page. Please come up with a clear solution to the Apple. HP is an American company. How can there be malware in their age old driver software. So much problems because of this.

Specs:

HP Laser Jet P4015dn with the driver series P4010.

The printer print perfectly on my windows pc within 10 seconds.

@madsschou88: That depends on which printer you have. On mine, I can go to a menu on the printer itself and have it always display its IP address. If you can't figure out how to do this with yours, you can always start surfing your local network:

Open System Preferences>Network. Whatever way you are connected to the internet will have a green dot next to it. Select that way; for me it's Wi-Fi. Look to the right: "Status: Connected...has the IP address JJJ.KKK.LLL.MMM". That's your computer's IP address, of course replacing the letters with actual numbers. Record those numbers.

Open a browser, say Safari. Type the first three components of your computer's address, JJJ.KKK.LLL. then add 1 at the end. See where that leads you, probably not your printer. try 2; then 3; etc. Eventually one will open your printer's configuration page. That must be your printer's IP address. Mine is j.k.l.34, the printer being the 33rd thing I added to my network.

I am having the same issue, HPDM.framework will damage your computer.

then I see this from howtoremove.guide, but I don't know if this is legit: "HPDM.framework is a browser-hijacking program capable of modifying or replacing the default search engine and changing the web browser’s homepage without asking for approval. In addition to that, HPDM.framework may display random pay-per-click ads on your browser’s screen and prompt you to click on links that could lead you to questionable pages."

Is HPDM.framework is a necessary driver or malware? Should we roll back to previous version of Catalina?

Hi -

I am also having printing problems and getting messages like "REsourceManager.framework will damage your computer". Can I get a little more information from those who fixed problem by changing their IPP (?) and then using Generic PostScript Printer. I am using comcast and trying to get through to HP is IMPOSSIBLE! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I also tried to fix the problem by adding a new printer with my IP address but it did not work. When I printed to the new printer, the print queue looked like it was sending data to the printer, but it wasn't. Then it looped on starting to print, not printing, and over again. I have an HP Color LaserJet CP2025 and a MacBook Pro running the latest version of Catalina.

Any ideas for me? Thanks.

Thank you.

Yesterday I could not print from NeoOffice v.2017.23. I did not even get a page to print anything. I only saw the HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni PrinterProxy Version 15 (571) appear and then disappear. I then downloaded HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg (Release date: Aug 4, 2020). but the the new driver did not change anything.

I have been following this thread and trying to download "ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essentials-S-5_14_8_4.pkg"

all day but each attempted download would not finish due to a "Failed - Network error" problem.

I tried your suggestion and while my experience was not exactly as you described I was finally able to print the page I could not print for 2 days. I will try to print from other applications as necessary and hope it will work for them too.
