"Remove from Account" missing from iCloud Find My iPhone

According to the support document, by selecting a particular device in Find My iPhone on the web, I should be able to remove it from my account. But for some of my devices, particularly the iPhone I've replaced, "Remove from Account" is missing (it should be under the "play sound" etc. options:


I know an alternate approach is to turn all iCloud settings off on the phone, but I'm just wondering why the option's not listed here.

Figured it out. It looks like you have to power down the device and then--when the dropdown menu on Find My iPhone is set to "All Devices"--you can hover over the name of the device you want to remove and you'll see an "x" that you can click.
