FaceTime child lock

As a result of Covid; my toddler enjoys her grandmother with daily FaceTime calls.

My toddler and grandmother enjoys the little taking the device on her own, walking through the house making baby talk.

The drawback to this activity is my toddler pressing the screen options and buttons which disrupts the activity.

Question, while using FaceTime, is there a “screen lock” option to prevent the other options from being activated? If not, it may be a good update and, I want a prize for the idea. :-)

Be well, safe and healthy...

Thank you

Hey there SuggestionBox123,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you want to know if there is a way to prevent buttons from being pressed while on a FaceTime call. We’ll be happy to help with this.

You could possibly enable Screen Time on your device when your child uses it restricting some activity. You can read more about this here:

Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Also, in more recent updates, FaceTime can bused with picture in picture. This would make it so that even if your child pressed a button or returned to the Home screen, the FaceTime call image would still show. You can read more about this here:

Multitask with Picture in Picture on iPhone

We hope this helps.

Take care.
