Catalina HP printer-scanner incompatibility?

Since upgrading to Catalina my Macbook Pro does not recognise my wireless HP Envy 5532 printer-scanner. I have uninstalled the printer, but when trying to re-install it I get a fax.backend message telling me that it will "damage my computer" and asking me to send a malware report to Apple. I have tried re-installing via HP but that doesn't work at all (circle of doom going round and round while searching for the printer). Any ideas?

Thank you.

I think that this is the same, or similar, solution described in another thread.

The extremely-detailed instructions are in the second from the last post on that page.

My two printers, an HP LaserJet 1022 and an HP DeskJet 3050A, are now able to print. However, the scanner won't work on the 3050. Note that the downloaded software directed me back to https://support.hp.com where I down the October 29, 2020 version of the 3050's all-in-one driver. Also, strangely enough the software didn't offer the U.S. as a country during setup -- I think that "Central America" and "English" were selected during the setup.
